HIST 3030 Syllabus

This page has supplemental content as well as helpful links for students taking World History Since 1500 (HIST 3030).

It is important to look at history from a global perspective. This allows for the ability to complicate, challenge and even “problematize” the “official” narratives of history.

Why study World History? An article co-authored by WMU’s own Dr. James Palmitessa and Stephen Staggs exploring this topic can be found here.

Interesting Forgotten or Overlooked narratives of history not often included in history textbooks yet found in popular culture:
Katyn
The Mission
Burnt by the Sun (Utomlennye solntsem)
Children of Glory (Szabadsag, Szerelem)
(more to come)
